　「永恆的戀人」（尤金．歐涅金）是近俄羅文學之父普希金一生最重要的作品。從一八二三年起，前後花了八年歲月，普希金寫成了俄羅斯第一本寫實的韻文體小說。他以自由奔放的筆觸描述一對青年激情與命運。透過男女主角的命運，詳盡地描繪了十九世紀初期的俄國社會和眾生相，被譽為是「俄羅斯生活的百科辭典」。藉著男女主角命運的衝突，普希金提出他銳利的社會批和拘學性思索，描述了真摯的情感與道德勇氣的困境，說明了健康的真理與責任觀念勝過犬儒式的思想與西方的膚淺。字裡行間充滿錯綜複雜的抒情意象，寫實的描述中也隱含著對大自然的沈思。書中所用的四音步抑揚格詩體的十四行詩，對後世俄詩的發展更有莫大的啟導作用。杜思妥也夫斯基便讚譽本書乃是俄羅斯的民族史詩，而女主角達茜雅娜則是俄羅斯純樸與誠篤的化身。

一個人應該使自己的生活成為一件藝術品。摘自亨利‧詹姆斯《一位女士的畫像》
書房的第一面牆塗了鮮黃色……柱子和樑怎麼辦？……已經踏出第一步，家裡的牆五十幾年來都是白色的。
塗一面牆才兩、三個小時而已，比寫一篇文章還快……不必想太多，腦子裏有一點「色感」就可以塗了，不滿意就改，當做寫日記一樣，只要天天做……是的，「天天做」是藝術的基本條件。作家沒有天天寫就不是作家；畫家沒有天天畫就不是畫家……
「天天做」有點像長篇小說……把一個密集一週可以完成的工程，轉變成天天做一點，二、三月才完成……這個轉變的成功在於「工程必須變成藝術」。
